As the Wheel of the Year turns towards Samhain and the darker months begin to arrive, join us for an evening of creativity and seasonal reflection. Through tarot, collage and journalling, we'll explore Samhain's themes of release, transformation and intuition.
Samhain - which Halloween draws on - is celebrated on 31st October, and marks the beginning of winter. It's a time of honouring what has passed, embracing cycles of life, death and renewal, and listening more closely to our intuition. As nature rests and regroups for winter, we're invited to do the same.
Join us at TCN Temple Studios, right next to Temple Meads Station, for a cosy evening using tarot as a tool for self-reflection, creative inspiration and storytelling.
What to expect
We'll settle into the space with a grounding meditation and a short introduction to Samhain.
Together we'll explore a selection of tarot cards chosen especially for this ancient festival, focusing on their symbolism. We'll look at their characters and imagery, as well as the meaning behind them, and explore how they can be used to inspire creativity, reflection and introspection.
You'll then create your own mixed media tarot card using collage, drawing, and art materials, inspired by their stories, and our selection of beautifully illustrated tarot desks. You can choose to reinterpret a traditional card, or create a tarot-inspired artwork symbolising nature's continuous rhythm of growth, transition and return.
To help tap into your intuition to create these personal pieces, we'll also spend time journalling and free-writing, using prompts inspired by Samhain's themes of endings, transformation, intuition and personal growth.
Complete beginners are welcome, as well as experienced creatives. This workshop is about curiosity, creativity and self-expression, not perfection.
We'll close with a reflection circle, where you can share your art, insights and intentions for the season ahead, if you feel comfortable.
This workshop is for you if
- You're curious about tarot but don't know where to start
- You enjoy creativity with meaning and intention
- You're looking for ways to celebrate the changing seasons

You'll leave with your own handmade tarot card or tarot-inspired artwork, fresh creative inspiration, journalling prompts to continue using at home, and a deeper connection to the themes of Samhain.
