The Daniel Pierce Library’s Giant Pumpkin Party is one of Sullivan County’s most beloved autumn events. This event is held rain or shine on the first Saturday of October from 12 pm until 4 pm.Admission and parking are free.
This year we are excited to announce our 40th Anniversary Parade, which will begin at 11:00 am. It will travel from the Tri-Valley Central School to the Grahamsville Fairgrounds along State Route 55.
The first Pumpkin Party was held in 1985 on the library lawn with the children marching, pumpkins in hand, from the Town Hall to the library. Because the party was so successful and because the children, no matter what age, had such a good time, it was moved to the Grahamsville Fairgrounds in 1987. It has since grown to become a major county and state attraction, drawing thousands from the Tri-State area each year.
The main focus of the day was, and always is, the children and families. There is something for everyone—from the costume march to pony rides, giant pumpkin growing contest, petting zoo, live music, hay rides, hay maze, book sale, handmade crafts, children’s games, delicious food, and other amusements!
The money raised at the Giant Pumpkin Party helps fund the many programs offered at the Daniel Pierce Library and helps us purchase much needed technology and books for all age groups.
The Giant Pumpkin Party is truly a community effort! More than 350 volunteers participate from local groups and organizations. Together, they create a magical day for everyone, especially the children, to enjoy!
