Join us for a laugh-out-loud, scream-out-louder walking tour through Southampton’s dark, gruesome and truly bizarre past – specially designed for families with kids aged 8+ and their grown-ups.
👻 Expect awful jokes, spooky stories, terrible tales, and loads of “Ewww!” moments as we explore the blood-soaked, plague-ridden, pirate-patrolled streets of old Southampton…
🏰 What’s in store?
🔸 Rotten Romans and their very uncivilised habits
🔸 Grisly medieval mayhem – sieges, swords & severed heads
🔸 The Great French Raid of 1338 (spoiler: it didn’t end well)
🔸 Titanic tales and the local lives lost at sea
🔸 Hidden underground vaults beneath the city streets
🔸 Ghosts, gallows, plague pits and gruesome goings-on...
Our 90-minute walk starts at the Bargate and includes a chance to step inside some of the city’s rarely-seen medieval vaults – including one under a 1960s apartment block and another under post-war council houses (access may vary depending on renovations).
⚠️ Please note: Due to the nature of the underground vaults, this tour isn’t suitable for those with mobility issues.
👨👩👧👦 All children must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
