When the last visitors have gone home and the lights have been switched off, Geelong Gaol belongs to the darkness once again.For more than 170 years, these bluestone walls have witnessed suffering, violence, despair, death and loss. Convicts, murderers, the mentally ill, the forgotten and the condemned all passed through the gates of this imposing prison. Some left.
Many never did.
Today, Geelong Gaol is regarded by many as one of Victoria’s most active paranormal locations. Strange voices. Unexplained shadows. Sudden temperature changes. Feelings of being watched. Footsteps echoing through empty corridors.
Are they tricks of the mind?
Or are they echoes of those who once walked these halls?
Join the National Crime & Justice Museum for a late-night Paranormal Investigation and explore the gaol after dark as you search for evidence that some former occupants may still remain within its walls.
Using specialised paranormal investigation equipment, you’ll conduct experiments, monitor activity and attempt to communicate with whatever may still linger in the darkness. Every investigation is different. Every night tells its own story.
