Calling All Dance Troupes: Register Now for the Inaugural Haunted Hallows Witch Dance Competition!Dear Witches, House Elves, and Dance Crews of the Spooky Arts,
The cauldron is bubbling, the veil is thinning, and something wickedly wonderful is brewing in Port Royal, South Carolina.
We are thrilled to officially invite you to participate in the Inaugural Haunted Hallows Witch Dance Competition, a brand-new event conjured from the magic of the Haunted Hallows Festival, held annually on the Saturday before Halloween in historic Port Royal, SC.
Over the past few years, Haunted Hallows has grown exponentially—from a beloved local celebration into a regional Halloween destination filled with creativity, community, and spooky joy. As the festival continues to expand, we are summoning new events and opportunities, and this Witch Dance Competition is one of the most exciting yet.
🖤 The Competition
Dance teams will perform the iconic Witch Dance to “Wolfshager Hexenbrut” (widely available on YouTube) in its entirety. Teams must consist of at least four dancers and be heavily costumed—fun, spooky, serious, theatrical, or silly interpretations are all welcome.
Teams may also choose to perform a freestyle dance to compete in additional categories.

Best Costumes (Team)
Best Single Costume
Best Team Spirit
(Think tent or staging décor, welcoming energy, group cohesion, and all-around magical vibes!)
Judging will take place throughout the day, with trophies awarded at day’s end in a mass celebratory dance finale worthy of the witching hour.

Entry Fee: $85 per team

Late entries will not be accepted
Entry fee must be paid at the time of registration
A portion of all entry fees benefits the Port Royal Old Village Association, helping support the historic heart of our community.
