Step inside what San Diego Magazine named "the best way to overcome your fear of ghosts," where the boundary between theatre and the supernatural is nothing more than a single burning light.

The Rosin Box Project's signature immersive, after-dark experience is part performance, part atmosphere, part invitation.

Each October, The Nocturne Theatre descends and opens its doors for a limited time. Once inside, masks conceal, secrets are revealed, and every performance is both a celebration and a requiem. There are no assigned seats and no fourth wall. Instead, guests move freely through the space, following Resident Spirits, discovering hidden encounters, gathering around the stage, and choosing how deeply they want to enter the world of the Masquerade.

At the center of the experience is the legend of the Ghost Light, the single lamp traditionally left burning on an empty stage after everyone has gone home. Practical tradition says it prevents accidents. Theatrical superstition says it keeps the spirits away.

At The Nocturne Theatre, to keep its stage alive, a Ghost Light was always left burning. However, over centuries, that flame became more than just a ward against darkness. It grew hungry. It drew in lost voices, half-finished scripts, and forgotten performers who never truly left the stage. From them was born this Masquerade: a gathering of masks, music, and movement where the living and the spectral intertwine.

Follow a Spirit. Stay close to the stage. Wander somewhere unexpected. Dance. Indulge. Explore.

Come dressed for the Masquerade, bring a mask of your own or wear one provided upon arrival, and step across the veil.

But be warned, once inside, the audience always plays its part.

⚠️ Ghost Light Masquerade is an immersive, participatory, and travelling performance with no formal seating. Guests are encouraged to move freely throughout the venue and explore performances and experiences as they unfold.

Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended. Some areas of the experience may include low lighting, atmospheric effects, close proximity to performers, and periods of standing or walking.

Masks are encouraged and will also be available upon arrival.

Participation and interaction with the performers is optional.
