Join us at The Whale for the first meeting of The Whale’s Boozy Book Club — a laid-back book club for people who love a good story, a good drink, and having someone to talk to when a book leaves you with thoughts.

For our first meeting, we’re leaning into the spookiness of October and reading Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo — a dark, twisty dive into secret societies, magic, M**der, and the occult at Yale.

We’ll meet on Wednesday, October 15 from 7:00–8:30 PM for themed drinks inspired by the book and a guided (but very unserious) discussion. The main discussion will focus exclusively on Ninth House, so you only need to read the first book to join us — no spoilers for the rest of the series! At the end of the night, we’ll set aside some time for anyone who’s read beyond the first book and wants to stick around for a spoiler-filled discussion of the series (the final installment of the trilogy, Deadbeat, released September 15!).

Come alone, bring a friend, have strong opinions, have no opinions — all are welcome. Just come having read as much of Ninth House as you can. (Spoilers for this book will certainly happen.)

Come early and make a night of it! The Whale’s Happy Hour runs from 5–7 PM, so grab dinner or a few drinks before book club begins. We'll also have complimentary valet parking.
