Step back in time for a fantastic day of 1940s-themed fun at Croxley Green's 80th Anniversary VE Day Community Picnic!

Bring the whole family and enjoy a lively celebration packed with entertainment, hands-on activities, and vintage charm as we mark this special milestone in style. Whether you're a history buff, a fan of swing music, or simply in it for the garden games and great food—there’s something for everyone.

This special event will feature a 1940's / military car show, 1940s dance workshops, and hands-on heritage activities including ‘Dig for Britain’, ‘Make Do and Mend’, and the nostalgic ‘Ration Station’.

Discover fascinating exhibitions and displays from the Croxley Green History Project, the Chiltern Open Air Museum, and the Three Rivers Museum, bringing wartime stories to life through memorabilia, interactive history, and local insights.

Young adventurers can experience the 1940s Girl Guide Camp, while families enjoy classic garden games, colour maze, and a selection of inflatables to keep everyone smiling.A variety of themed entertainers will be performing throughout the day—including a special guest appearance by Winston Churchill himself, portrayed by a historical re-enactor with all his charisma.

There will be a wide selection of delicious food and drink available from local vendors, including freshly cooked burgers delivered straight from Croxley Green’s Royal British Legion Branch.

You're also welcome to bring along your own food and enjoy a relaxed picnic atmosphere on the Green.

The event is accessible for all ages and abilities, with accessible parking available. Please note that general parking on site is limited, so attendees are kindly encouraged to walk or use public transport to and from the event ground where possible.
