P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation Seeks Local Businesses, Volunteers, and Decorated Trunks or Tents for Massive Greensboro Halloween Event
GREENSBORO, NC — The P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation is officially calling on local Triad businesses, community organizations, and individual volunteers to register their vehicles or pop-up tents and help create a safe, festive evening for local kids at its upcoming annual Trunk or Treat.
The public community event will take place on Thursday, October 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. across the soccer fields at Proehlific Park (4517 Jessup Grove Rd, Greensboro, NC 27410).
Founded in 1995 by 17-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl champion Ricky Proehl and his wife Kelly, the P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. Its core mission focuses on providing vital athletic, academic, and financial assistance to at-risk and integrated children across the Triad and North Carolina.
This highly anticipated Halloween extravaganza is open to the entire public. To build an unforgettable experience for local families, the foundation is targeting a goal of at least 50 uniquely decorated car trunks and pop-up tents to pass out candy throughout the afternoon. Alongside rows of creative displays, the event features a live DJ to spin spooky music tracks and a crowd-pleasing costume contest.
“This event relies entirely on our incredible Triad community stepping up to give back,” says Morgan Malikowski, executive director for the P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation. “It’s a completely safe, thrilling environment for kids to enjoy Halloween, and a spectacular platform for local businesses to gain direct exposure to hundreds of Triad area families. Whether you choose to decorate the back of an SUV or set up a fully themed 10x10 canopy tent, we want you there. We need vehicles, tent hosts, volunteers to keep things moving, and lots of candy donations to keep up with the crowds!”
How the Community Can Get Involved:
• Decorate a Trunk or Tent: Local businesses, clubs, and families can register a car, van, truck, or pop-up tent spot for free. Participants are responsible for bringing their own creative decorations and enough candy or branded promotional items to hand out to trick-or-treaters. Prizes will be formally awarded to both the best-decorated vehicles and the most creative tent displays.
• Volunteer Your Time: Event volunteers are needed to assist with parking coordination, family greeting, booth support, and safety management across the soccer fields.
• Donate Candy: Individuals or businesses unable to attend can drop off sealed bags of candy at the Proehlific Park fitness center front desk any time leading up to the event.
•
There is no cost for businesses or organizations to register a trunk or tent spot, but space is limited and advance registration is strictly required. Individuals and local business owners interested in securing a spot or joining the volunteer team should email
[email protected] or call (336) 665-5233 to officially register.
