Trick-or-treating is one of the most beloved traditions of Halloween, but creating a safe, successful, and engaging neighborhood event takes planning, communication, and community support.
Join Kelley Stein, co-founder of the 10/31 Consortium, for a practical workshop designed to help neighborhood associations, community leaders, and volunteers bring Halloween magic back to their streets. Drawing from years of experience organizing community Halloween initiatives through the 10/31 Consortium, Kelley will share strategies for increasing participation, building partnerships, and creating a memorable experience for families.
Topics will include:
Encouraging neighbors and families to participate
Creating excitement and building community engagement
Partnering with local businesses for support and sponsorships
Applying for costume and candy assistance through community programs
Planning resources, volunteers, and event logistics
Building a safe and welcoming environment for all participants
A representative from the Baton Rouge Police Department will also discuss pedestrian safety, traffic calming strategies, and considerations for creating safer neighborhood streets during Halloween events.
