If you’re not familiar with The International Beat then this extract from Kevin Flowerdew’s book Ska Explosion will give you a feel for his ska credentials…
”Former members of 2 Tone legends The Beat became involved in the UK scene again in 1989 as part of an exciting new Birmingham band called THE INTERNATIONAL BEAT. Both Everett Morton and Saxa were members of the new combo and Ranking Roger also guested with them at some gigs. The International Beat were formed in January 1989 by vocalist Tony Beet and their early appearances at London ska events brought rave reviews of The Beat’s sound. 1990 saw The International Beat on the march in the USA. During some Californian dates they were joined on stage by Beat frontman Dave Wakeling while playing to over 10,000 people in San Fransisco. The following day they played to a crowd of 100,000 at The Earth Day Festival in Chrissie Fields.”

Tony is reforming The International Beat and they will be playing The International Ska Festival in London over the Easter weekend to promote the re-release of their album “The Hitting Line”.
As a warm up to this they will be playing an intimate show at The Rhodehouse, Sutton Coldfield on Thursday 30th March.
Ska and 2 Tone classics will be playing either side of the 40 minute live set and entry is free so why not join us for an evening of singing, dancing and drinking.
