The Hoo Ha belatedly returns for our usual annual Hallowe'en event, or in this case, our near-enough Hallowe'en event as a lot of us, myself included, will be at JT Soar Fest on the day itself (I highly recommend it by the way!). But we can still pretend it's the 31st, can't we? And because it was such a hit last year, we're doing cover versions as a theme again. They don't have to be spooky covers either, but feel free to make up for it by turning up in spooky outfits!
Same format as usual - 12 guaranteed 20 minute DJ slots playing vinyl and/or CDs. MP3s are allowed by arrangement too - let us know in advance so we can ensure you're accommodated kit-wise, but please no automatic playlists as it takes the fun out of it!
To apply, stick your name down here (no experience necessary, we'll help out all newbies), and nearer the time, we randomly pick 12 names from a hat, with everyone else as reserves. Reserves may be promoted to the 12 at short notice and although there's no guarantee of this, we may pick a reserve (or two) to play a warmup and a closedown set.
A second draw takes place at 7pm on the night itself to determine the main time slots. You could be on first at 7:30pm, or headlining at 11:10pm, you won't know until the night (although if you have specific timing considerations we can bend the rules on this). We do like it if you stick around to support the other DJs though. Also, please make a note of what you played so you can post on the group page afterwards. Not everybody can make it on the night and it's very important that they feel part of the night too. It's all about sharing and discovery after all.
No genres are out of bounds, the only rules are no repeats, so bring a few spare tracks with you - if somebody beats you to one of your picks, you're ok.
Don't be afraid to sign up if you've not been before, we're all on hand to help any newcomers. No snobbery, no egos, no gatekeepers, it's all about having fun and enjoying the music, and maybe having a dance (if you like).
And if you don't make the lineup, come along anyway, have some great food, and most importantly, help us raise money for charity. We know things are tight these days, so even though entry is free, we encourage people to make whatever donation they can (but only if you can!). Every penny collected on the night goes to our chosen charity LAMP (www.lampadvocacy.co.uk)
