Dear Friends of Casket Cinema,Casket Cinema goes down the rabbit hole just before Halloween with local MN filmmaker Micheal Thomsen’s “Tethered to the Ether”. Thomsen is a NE Mpls assemblage artist and filmmaker. The film is his biggest and most intricate work of art yet — a moving collage filled with beautiful blink-and-you’ll-miss-it details, decadent vignettes, handmade props, masks and miniature sets, camera-in-camera Easter eggs and so much more. The director spins a dark, mesmerizing tale that’s as psychologically nerve wracking as it is beautifully surreal. His distinctive style is Baroque contemporary and its’ central to the film’s production design aesthetic. It’s blended with a hypnotic score composed by Thomsen himself, with additional musical interludes by Mike Gunther, Nico V. Isotalo, and Waveless. This film will play on October 30th at 8pm. The special guest will be the director himself, Michael Thomsen, he will converse with Casket Cinema co-founder Mark Wojahn via zoom after the screening. This will be a very special event.
