REEL 2 REAL - Mark Quashie, better known by his stage name The Mad Stuntman, is a Trinidadian-born American vocalist who helped define the sound of 90s dance music. Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, he later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where his music career took off. His nickname was inspired by the 80s TV show The Fall Guy, which featured a stuntman-turned-bounty hunter. He was introduced to DJ Erick Morillo by reggae artist El General, leading to the formation of Reel 2 Real. His energetic ragga-style vocals transformed the track “Go On Move” from an underground dub into a mainstream hit. He became the voice behind the iconic “I Like to Move It”, which topped charts across Europe and became a pop culture staple thanks to the Madagascar films. Albums with Reel 2 Real include: Move It! (1994) Reel 2 Remixed (1995) Are You Ready for Some More? (1996) His vocal style was emulated in Madagascar by Sacha Baron Cohen (King Julien), will I am (Moto Moto), and Chris Rock (Marty the Zebra). He’s one of those artists whose voice instantly transports you to a dance floor in the 90s.with high-energy American hip house vibrant slice of dance music history, packed with infectious beats and club anthems that lit up dance floors in the 1990s. Reel 2 Real had other dance chart successes too, like: “Go On Move”, “Raise Your Hands” “Jazz It Up” and “Can You Feel It?” With seven Top 10 hits on the US Dance Chart, Reel 2 Real was a fixture in 90s club scenes. Sadly, Erick Morillo passed away in 2020, but the beats live on.
