Welcome to Soul Slam fam! A night of soulful serenading, hip hop & smooth grooves, hosted by Ariel Sim & Chlz, featuring special guest DJ Iced Misto.

Doors open at 7:00 PM. Performances start at 8:00 PM.

Expect an interactive community vibe with a medley of live performances, curated music and a chance to hop on the mic for our open community slam.

ABOUT THE HOSTS.

is a multi-disciplinary artists with foundations in music and dance. In 2021, she released the “expertly crafted” EP Confessions in the Circle Volume I, with accompanying music videos described by Canadian beats as “a series of musical, cinematic reawakenings.” Raised by jazz musicians, Ariel makes soul music composed of confessions, harmony, and walls of sounds. Studying jazz performance throughout high school, she then transitioned to study West African percussion and dance cultures at the University of Arizona, studying under Barbea Williams, Bernard Woma, Praise Zenenga, and Mike Vercelli. Ariel now blends her influences from jazz, soul, hip hop and world music for a unique sound. She is a lifelong student and lover of all things music and the arts.

is a singer/songwriter based in Toronto. Her diverse range of influences stem from growing up singing jazz alongside her grandmother, to her scholarly background in studying classical music and musical theatre. Branching away from her roots, CHLZ joined John Orpheus as a singer and dancer before exploring her own alternative R&B sound. In 2021, CHLZ released her self titled EP, where her song ‘Simple’ reached #3 on the Upcoming 100’s ‘Emerging 300 Artists’ chart. The Hype Magazine took note of her work by stating that her "angelic voice soars with sultry lo-fi sounds." Driven by her mysticism, she fuses nature scapes with velvety vocals to shine a light on empowering the feminine, while also exploring the ebb and flow of ever changing relationships. CHLZ has been working on new music and is excited to release an upcoming EP in 2023.

(part of Funky Facilitators, T.O. Hustle Sessions, and 2u4u Toronto) is a Toronto-based DJ that ignites the soul at both dance battles and parties. She has years of experience playing major roles in street dance events; whether it’s providing the tunes, working behind the scenes at events or community work, advising peers, or spreading the word of what’s happening this week. She is one of the staple DJs of many battles like Crystallized, KOD Canada, Unity Charity, UW Community Battles, Bentway Battle, and Experience Point. Iced Misto plays her sets like no other. She presents to you nostalgic songs you are familiar with while combining new, progressive sounds to remix into her set. Though she is known for her House and Soul parties, she is well-versed in all genres that will make you dance all night! When she’s DJing an all-styles battle, you best believe she will be playing all styles of dance music. She was a resident and host of several regular parties such as Ah Nu, Vibe Parade, Secret Garden, Deep & Disco, Night Ride, Beyond the Dance, Brighter Days, and Footprints. Seasoned dancers, average party goers, and even wall flowers can enjoy party vibes by Iced Misto.
