Rishi: End Cages for Hens - Parliament Square Protest!

Easter is a time of celebrating new life, with images of happy hens and easter chicks everywhere you turn. This, however, is not the reality for the 10 million laying hens still trapped in cages across the UK. We want to use this time to shine a much needed light on the cruelty within the egg industry, and encourage PM Rishi Sunak to finally take action and ban cages for hens, for good.

For an hour starting from midday on Sunday 2nd April, we will peacefully protest outside Parliament, using handmade placards (bring your own - see below!) and handing out leaflets to passers by to raise awareness about the plight of caged hens in the UK.

• We'll meet at the corner of Parliament Square next to the Winston Churchill statue - please arrive 10 minutes before midday so we can get settled before the protest begins!
• We'll hold homemade placards and hand out leaflets to passers by
• At the end we can go grab some vegan food together if people are up for it

Leaflets will be provided, but we'd love you to bring your own placard - you can use any piece of cardboard/paper you can get your hands on, they don't need to be professional or polished. Messages to include should be around: "Free hens from cages" "End the cage age" "Rishi, end cages for hens" - though of course you're welcome to get creative with Easter messaging, as long as you're not offensive! Dress suitably for the weather and bring water if you'll need a drink. We'll head for some vegan food after if you'd like to join us.

This event is open to anyone who believes in our mission: to end the abuse of all animals raised for food. You do not need to be a current volunteer or affiliated with THL UK in any way, everyone is welcome. You also don’t have to be vegan to attend this event. Why not bring a friend with you?
