Limón Theater Company Presents a spooky screening of George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead in order to raise funds for WIN. Night of the Living Dead is a classic horror film about a group of people taking shelter from an army of the undead in an abandoned farmhouse. Romero's film is one of the most influential and iconic zombie horror movies. Along with it's well known standing with horror fans it also holds historical significance as one of the first horror movies to feature a Black character as the lead and sole survivor of the zombie attack. (costumes are welcomed, except for full faced masks and weapons)
About us:
We are Limón Theater Company. Founded by Amber Barrios and Maya Renee Castro, Limón Theater produces and spotlights emerging BIPOC artists in New York City while contributing profits to social organizations focused on community welfare. Our goal is to involve new audiences in theater that isn't normally funded in mainstream media and we hope to bring you along this journey we're about to be begin.
The first organization we will be fundraising for is WIN.
WIN (Women in Need) is a nonprofit organization providing safe housing and critical services to homeless women and their children in NYC. In addition to running 16 shelters and over 450 supportive housing units, WIN also offers services and programs that have been specifcially developed to support long-term housing stability as well as on-site daycare centers and afterschool educational/recreational programs.
It is important to note that this is Part 1 of our fundraising for WIN. More info on Part 2 to come.
