This October, HOLD UP gets into the spirit of the season with the 1998 slasher classic URBAN LEGEND, a bloody love letter to campus folklore turned deadly that promises to be almost as scary as it must have been working with Jared Leto.A killer is stalking the students of Pendleton University, basing each murder on a famous urban myth - from the killer in the backseat, to the escaped mental patient with a hook. Starring a peak-late-‘90s ensemble cast including Jared Leto (sorry), Alicia Witt, Rebecca Gayheart, and a scene-stealing Joshua Jackson, this is slick, meta-horror at its most entertaining.
Arriving in the wake of Scream, URBAN LEGEND carved out its own niche by weaponizing the stories we’re already afraid to tell at sleepovers.
