Easter is about bodies that just won’t quit. It’s about bodies that have the power to overcome the death-dealing forces that try to destroy them (racism, homophobia, transphobia, shame, capitalism…) Easter is about catching a glimpse: of a dead friend, of a new hope, of the world the way God wishes it to be. Easter is about getting excited. So, of course, Easter is burlesque!
Gilead Chicago’s Easter service will feature queer-centered, body-positive burlesque performances guaranteed to make you wanna shake your graveclothes off. Plus communion, pop songs to sing at the top of your lungs, and stories of life flying in the face of death.
