Details

Lose yourself in 4 days of humungous noses, expressive dog tails and surreal storytelling. Let your imagination run riot and add humour to your drawing while improving your skills and building confidence. Try different materials and techniques and learn from masters while collecting inspiration both in and out of the studio, from your head and from life. By the end of the week you’ll have mastered how to draw your favourite comic characters, created your own set of illustrated personas, made a 3D model and designed a collaborative illustrated storybook.
What to expect
Day one
Learning from masters and photographic story-boarding
Learn how to transform simple shapes into your favourite famous cartoon characters cut them out and take them for a walk in the park.
Day 2
Introducing humour to drawings from life.
Develop life drawings of yourself, club mates, animals and everyday objects into cartoon form.
Day 3
Model making
Sculpt your character in plasticine and clay. Make a backdrop for your model
Day 4
Story creation and book Illustration and club end of week exhibition
Everybody creates one page of a collaborative story.
We will try and get out to draw most days in the park, weather allowing.
Ages 8-15 welcome. The group will be split into two age/friend/sibling suitable rooms. Classes start at 10am until 3pm, lunch is a packed lunch supervised at the park or in the studio. Older children can make their own arrangements if they wish. Morning and afternoon snacks provided.
