One week before Halloween, the shadows lengthen over Prague as the Prague Horrortheater unveils a bold new stage adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula—performed in the hauntingly beautiful Church of Sacré Coeur.
This production marks a double milestone: 15 years of Prague Horrortheater and the creator’s eighth adaptation of Dracula across multiple media. Previous incarnations have taken the story from stage to radio, short film, and even the graphic page—each time reshaping the myth for a new form. Now, the vampire returns to where it arguably belongs most: live, physical, and dangerously close.
Set within the monumental interior of Sacré Coeur, the production embraces the novel’s Gothic core—obsession, desire, decay, and occultism—while letting the architecture itself become part of the drama. The church is not merely a venue, but a silent witness, amplifying the tension between the sacred and the profane.
“After adapting Dracula so many times, the challenge is no longer how to tell the story, but how to confront it“, says Producer Gordon L. Schmitz.
Founded 15 years ago, Prague Horrortheater has built an international reputation for visceral, literary-driven horror that resists cliché. Its productions favor atmosphere over spectacle, psychological pressure over cheap shock—an approach that has earned a loyal following well beyond the Czech Republic.
Staged just days before Halloween, Dracula at Sacré Coeur promises an experience that blurs theatre, ritual, and nightmare—an anniversary celebration befitting a company that has spent a decade and a half exploring humanity’s darkest corners.
