It’s Halloween race time! We tried to come up with some clever horror movie titles as the name of the race, but couldn’t come up with anything. So we’ll settle for this: BEPC Productions Presents: HALLOWEEN PADDLE 2026 What were some of the ideas we discarded? They were terrible, so please don’t make us list them. You insist? (Sigh) OK: Nightmare on Shilshole, I Know What You Paddled Last Summer, and The Silence of the Fins. (groan) And, with that, this is it. One last chance to get out on the water before we truly put the 2026 season to rest and the costumes in storage. Though, who says you can’t keep wearing your costume deep into November? You do you. We won’t judge (not for THAT, anyway). Regardless of your fashion choices, join us for our Halloween Race. The details you ask? November 1st, 2026 at the Ballard Elks. Race Fee is $20. Schedule is as follows: 10:00 AM — Registration opens -> 10:30 AM — Safety meeting -> 11:00 AM — Race start -> 12:00 PM — End-of-Season Party and Paddle Series awards Registration on Webscorer can be found here: https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=451717&owner=1 So, costumes are encouraged, but bad judgment (about attire) is not. Wait, what? Read on… So, here’s the thing. Please get creative, but make sure you can see, move, paddle, and stay safe. There are no prizes for best or scariest costume. PFDs are still required (prone excepting), even if your costume is a convincing pirate, ghost, or a sexy CPA (admit it, you can’t keep your eyes off a balanced ledger). So, after the paddle, stick around to celebrate the season, recognize the volunteers who make this whole operation float (we still love our puns), and hand out the Paddle Series awards. What are those awards? No clue. I’m just a Pro Bono Scribe and the Elves no longer have to do what I tell them (not that they ever did). So they won’t spill the beans. Just show up and find out, ok? Come for the paddle. Stay for the company and revelry. And, as always… Be Safe. Be Kind. Have Fun. Race Well. BOO!!!!
